Background
Geoffrey Thompson is a partner at our Vancouver office. Admitted to the British Columbia bar in 1982, he is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Laws in 1981. Prior to his legal studies, he received a Master of Science (Economics) from the London School of Economics in 1977 and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Simon Fraser University in 1976.
Areas of Practice
- Practices in the areas of commercial insolvencies and corporate re-organization, creditor’s remedies, realizations, recovery of assets, secured transactions and commercial fraud.
Professional Experience
- Represents banks, credit unions and private lenders in recovery of commercial loans and advises corporations on insolvency and reorganization issues. Also represents insolvency professionals in their capacity as receivers, trustees in bankruptcy, liquidators and monitors.

- Has taught numerous courses and written several dozen papers on various aspects of insolvency and environmental law.
- Co-editor of Environmental Law and Business in Canada (Carswell, 1993).
