Background
Gordon Johnson is a civil and commercial litigation partner at our Vancouver office. Mr. Johnson was admitted to the British Columbia bar in 1987. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Laws in 1985.
Areas of Practice
- Mr. Johnson practices in the areas of commercial litigation, arbitration and administrative law regarding commercial issues with a focus upon the securities industry, financial institutions and real estate disputes.
Professional Experience
- Represented the Vancouver Stock Exchange and the Canadian Venture Exchange Inc. and several investment dealers in numerous disciplinary, regulatory and civil actions, including at the British Columbia Securities Commission, the British Columbia Supreme Court and the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
- Represented a number of banks and similar financial institutions, both as claimant and defendant.
- Acted for investment dealers regarding liability and regulatory issues.
- Obtained a number of injunctions freezing assets and requiring defendants to allow searches of residential and business properties.
- Worked with major accounting firms and financial institutions in seeking recovery after a receivership or bankruptcy.
- Experience includes representing parties in collapsed real estate transactions and representing both plaintiffs and defendants in claims against realtors and appraisers.
- Experience with arbitration in Real Estate, Banking and Securities cases.
