Background
Lindsay is a partner in our Calgary office and is the regional head of the Tax and Wealth Management department in that office. He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1980, having obtained his LL.B. from the University of Alberta in 1979 and a B.Comm. from the University of Calgary in 1976. Lindsay completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Course in 1985.
Areas of Practice
Lindsay's practice is restricted to providing tax counsel on a broad range of Canadian income tax matters, including advising Canadian and foreign entities on tax matters relating to acquisitions, divestures, structuring of business transactions and projects, reorganizations and plans of arrangement, corporate takeovers, public offerings and financings, estate planning and business succession, as well as the resolution of disputes with federal and provincial tax authorities.

- Major purchase, sale and corporate takeover transactions
- Reorganization and restructuring transactions involving public corporations and partnerships
- Major asset acquisitions and dispositions
- Structuring of joint ventures and partnerships in a variety of sectors including the natural resource, real estate, manufacturing and retail industries
- Public and private offerings of shares, warrants and limited partnership units
- Domestic and international debt financings and credit arrangements
- Conversions of businesses between income trusts and corporations
- Public offerings of royalty trust units and flow through shares
- Acquisitions, dispositions and investments in private corporations
- Stock purchase, stock option and employee profit sharing plans
- Dispute resolution on behalf of corporations and individuals, with federal and provincial tax authorities
